Each year Greenside holds a week of focused creative activity. This includes professional performances, workshops run by outside practitioners as well as performances and sharings by students.. Here are some of the highlights.
Last year students took part in costume making workshops with students from Barnwell School, learned to throw pots on the potters wheel, took part in steel drumming workshops and performed for the school at the Creative Evening.
This year's focus for Creative Week was sculpture. Students took part in a sculpture project with Barnwell and Pear Tree Schools, making coil pots, spin paintings and taking part in African Drumming workshops.
Our second Creative Festival included students making model sets and then photoshopping their images into them. Students also took part in a variety of workshops making clay animals, outdoor sculptures, and printing T-shirts. An inclusion day at Barnwell School saw the children scavenge for natural materials in the woods with which they made a group collage.
In 2010 we held our first Creative Festival - a week long celebration of our students' creative work which included performances by students and outside companies. One-day workshops included African Drumming, mono-printing with IntoArt, The Draw-Me Booth, music, action painting on the Green. There was also a Creative Evening in which students performed and presented their artworks for friends, family and the Mayor of Stevenage.
